Late 70's V-2 w/ 6L6 tubes; modified? Can I run 7027's???

Ok, I recently bought a late 70's V-2 that is loaded w/ 6L6 power tubes; from that article I read (help my amp has 7027s!), it seems that maybe someone just stuck them in there and they work in 7027 sockets? Can someone verify this? I want to put it back to 7027 tubes, but without blowing up my amp, LOL... my tech is a cool guy, but if I can get out of giving him $100 just so he can tell me "yeah, everythings cool..." I could put the money towards other things, ha ha    : )

I feel I should mention that the tubes are JJ brand 6L6GC's if it makes a difference...
