Replacement tubes
Hi I am new to the forum and I have a chance to get a v4 but it needs to be retubed I wanted to know the best tubes for the amp and how does it compare to the SVT classic I play 60's and 70's rock and funk I would appreciate any help thanks

The best tubes for the amp are NOS 7027s or more recent production Winged C 6L6GC tubes, if you want to stay on spec.
Can't compare it to an SVT classic personally, but it definitely won't be as loud. To some that is a good thing, to others, a bad thing.

If you are a basssist, you can also try to find a V4b...
The winged C tubes are expensive. But you can probably get away with chinese 'Sino' 6L6GCs or JJ 7027s if you are staying at home, and those are cheaper.
Don't pay too much Invariably the amp is going to need work to get it safe. A few stray components can eat up a new set of tubes so the tech work (if you can't do it yourself) is the more important cost than the price of a retube if I had to pick one or the other...
