G5--5 Watt Amp
While I'm waiting for someone to free up their 70s G12, I am curious whether anyone has info on the G5 tube combos produced by Ampeg in the late 60s or early 70s. They had 6V6s. Thanks in advance.

Re: G5--5 Watt Amp
There is no such amp as the G5. Ampeg made a gt10 but that was solid state. Perhaps you are thinking of the new gvt5? That is a brand new amp.
Or maybe you meant g15? That used 7591s

Re: G5--5 Watt Amp
Thanks, Hangman.
G5-12R
Output tubes were 6V6. Echo, no reverb.
Have not found any information in the usual sources.

Re: G5--5 Watt Amp
Ah I see. That is an S not a 5. You will find plenty of info if you look up gs12r.
Basically it is the reverberocket ll. in the late 60s. They renamed it the rocket ll, but the circuit is the same.

Many thanks for the info!
I did not recall the Reverberocket II had 6V6 tubes.

Re: G5--5 Watt Amp
it doesn't, it has 7591s.
ampeg did not use 6V6s after 1964(roughly).... any amp at that time that used 6V6s was upgraded to 7591s.
