OK to remove polarity switch?

This may be an obvious question but figured Id ask to be sure...
I just picked up a decent '73 VT22 and would like to try
adding a master volume. A 3 prong cord has been added in the past.
Is it ok to just snip the wires to the polarity switch and remove it?
Id like to use that hole to mount the master pot. Thanks.

Re: OK to remove polarity switch?

Make sure the ground wire on the power cord has the chassis grounded. Measure the continuity for zero ohms, don't rely on visual observation.  You can clip out the polarity switch and remove the .047 cap (usually white ceramic) from the terminal strip.
