Increasing cap size for c18 & c20
Have an order going to AES today but before processing I was wondering if I should get two 100x100 multi's for c18 & c20 instead of one 50x50 and one 100x100?
Hangman laid out a very nice way to do the job here...
http://www.ampegv4.com/forum/viewtopic. … 614#p12614
doing so gives 50uf for both the screens and the plates.
going with 100x100 for both c18 & c20 will allow the level capacitance for the plates to be bumped up to 67uf.
I'm not concerned w/ reinventing the wheel or changing the tone here just thought upping to 67uf may add more filtration
Or just stick with the 50uf????

the Dual 50uf is fine, and almost half the price. if you get the dual 100 you would only use half of it.
I have tried to look at your picture but it doesn't show up in your post for me, and when I follow your link: http://www.vulcanforums.com/forums/pict … reid=10769
I cant see anything either. the page opens and it is just a blank white background.

Re: Increasing cap size for c18 & c20
ok I will build w/ 50uf on the plate and screen and skip the 67uf idea for the plates.
the vulcanforum link gets cut due to the file size so I moved to photobucket
If you can see this... did I get it correct??

I can see it now. yes it looks correct. I have done the bleeder resistors on the screen supply and also left them out. I think putting them in is better form.
that is pretty much the way I do V4s/v2s and it seems to do very well.

Re: Increasing cap size for c18 & c20
Excellent! Thanks for dbl checking my work.
I can't wait for my parts to arrive to get this behemoth back to its former glory. I already rewired the speakers... got rid of the crap lamp cord and put in 14ga mil spec (teflon/silver) wire.
Cosmetically, its quite clean. Even came w/ the OEM dolly. Interesting combo of speakers.
