Ampeg V4 Distortion - Humming/power tube
New to the forum. I've check this site before I made the purchase. Awesome info in here.
Just picked up an Ampeg V4 Distortion. It currently has a hum and possibly needs new power tube(s) since there is an unpleasant break-up when playing. Tubes are currently Sovtek 7027As. Have not really fiddled with it to check the preamp tubes.
I am pairing it with my VT-22 2x12 speaker cab with OE speakers which I believe are Celestions. Thus, the reason for getting the head.
Amp is loud! Previous owner stated that pulling two power tubes out (in alternate order) will reduce to 50 watts, any truth behind this?
I'm thinking I can either fix it up or flip it to get a master V4.
Thanks for the input.
Photos will follow. Still on the road.

Re: Ampeg V4 Distortion - Humming/power tube
100 bones later, fixed.
Replaced the caps with the kit that came with the amp.
Amp tech did confirm that the amp will work just fine with only two tubes at reduced power. Parallel circuit.
