TAD 7027A
Hello,
Did anyone use these tubes? They're a bit more expensive than brand new JJ or Sovtek.

And what's with the quality of brand new tubes? Are they also very durable like old tubes?

Re: TAD 7027A
i was curious about these, as well. i used a V4 in a rehearsal space, but i have no idea what tubes were in it. consequently, i don't really know what i want, but i tend to want "good" stuff. it's easier than wondering if i should have gotten the "good" stuff.
i play bass, so maybe that changes things a bit.

visually they look an awful lot like the JJ. TAD is much like groove tubes in that they don't manufacture their own tubes. I wouldn't be surprised if its just a "selected" JJ 7027.

Re: TAD 7027A
i thought they might be a custom tweak from one of the few actual manufacturers. the more i read, though, the more it seems like i should go with =C= 6L6.
most of the ringing endorsements of them are for guitar, though. i liked the V4 i played through because it was thick and harmonically dense, even when clean. i don't want to clean it up from there.

I've just received a quad of brand new JJ 7027a to replace a pair of TAD 7027a and a pair of unbranded/unknown 7027a. The TAD 7027a are JJs.

I generally buy tubes from Lord Valve. His burn-in seems pretty reliable. Any opinions on TAD vs. LV?

I'd agree. his burn-in is really close outside of flukes, though you DO pay for it compared to other vendors more or less.
If you can deal with his attitude on the phone, and spotty speed for putting stuff in the mail, and you don't mind paying for the quality matching, by all means, he's a good person to order from.
Never tried TAD branded/tested tubes.

Re: TAD 7027A
I'm a huge TAD fan. Been using them since 2006 and I find them much better thank Sovtek and EHX. They're super reliable and really improved my tone. Never tried their 7027s though, I use 6550s on my V4.

Re: TAD 7027A
With few if any exceptions, TAD doesn't make tubes, they test and re-brand Sovtek/EHX/Svetlana/JJ/Sino tubes; etc. At best they will have an 'exclusive' deal to resell a said factorys tubes...

Re: TAD 7027A
It might be.. Often they describe the tubes as "our version of the popular (enter brand here) tube" so I thought they actually got some tubes produced from their own design.
