6k11 longevity?
Have a naked vt-22 ('70's most likely earlier) that I recently took out of moth balls.
Re-capped and replaced some crusty resistors and swapped C3,6,7 to 0.1 uf for bass (in turret cups for a quick swap back to 0.01uf if needed for guitar)
To protect myself from the inevitable I bought 4 6k11's and the orville amp kit (which does away w/ the 6k11). Now that I have my vt-22 set for a long life...
I was just curious how long a 6k11 lasts w/ light to moderate use of the amp?
Up next is the headbox currently being built for me @ fliptops

Re: 6k11 longevity?
The orville kit is really cool. I'm glad that they did that.
the 6K11s that you have should last a pretty long time though. I haven't been using my Vt-22 a lot lately but its been in there since i got the amp nearly 7 years ago. I would say my use is light.
my coworker has a V2. his 6K11 has been in there for 2 or 3 years and he uses that thing multiple times a week at performance volume.
I think the problem most people have with the 6K11 these days is that they're so damn expensive. used to be that you could find them for like $10-$15 now they're like $40-$50 its nuts

Re: 6k11 longevity?
thats why I bought all the stock at a local supply house (that has been around forever).
@ $11 per tube I could not refuse... RCA, Sylvania and Raytheon.
Hopefully Fliptops will carry the Orville modification so the word gets out to all v4, vt-22, vt-40 owners
