New guy with a Gemini 1/G-12
Howdy folks!
I'm new to this forum having found it after I scored a Gemini 1 yesterday. Lots of cool info here so I'm happy to have found this site. I'm wondering if anyone can provide me with more info on my new amp. This is my first Ampeg and I have virtually no knowledge of these things.
This is the black tolex version. (Version 2?) The control plate reads Gemini 1 although the tube chart reads G-12. The tubes are labeled 'Ampeg' so I suppose they could be original although the rest of the amp has seen some wear n' tear. It has the original footswitch and both the reverb and trem work... sound great actually. There is a new power cord. The speaker is an EV Force 12 which I'm guessing is a replacement? Both guitar inputs work although the accordion inputs do not. All in all I love the amp! I got it for $350 and really just went for it because it sounded so dang good with a Tele. I've played new boutique amps in the $2K range that didn't move me the way this Ampeg did.
What year can I approximate this amp at? Is the power 18 watts? 22 watts? 28 watts? I've read conflicting information. What's the deal with the tremolo intensity, treble 1 & treble 2 controls when they click into position at the top of their range??
Any help/info is much appreciated. Thank you!

Re: New guy with a Gemini 1/G-12
there are two black tolex g-12s the one you have still has the chrome chassis correct? that would be 66-67
there is also a later version that came out in 68 which has the same look as the V4/VT-22 that model was made 68-70
the EV force speaker is not original. the original speaker would have been a jensen p12 or something similar.
they really are amazing amps. I can't believe how great they sound.
They are 22 watts. the click on the treble control is the ultra-high switch. (they assumed that you wouldn't want the ultra high on if your treble control wasn't all the way up already) and the cick on the tremolo intensity is for the "after-beat" function of the tremolo. makes the oscillator for the tremolo have a different waveform I think. gives it a more abrupt sound, really cool.
G12 is my favorite amp. they really do sound amazing.

Thanks Hangman. Yes, it's the chrome chassis version so I s'pose it's a 66-67' model. It needs some work but hopefully it'll hold up as is.
